UI/UX Design
IBM - Application Consultant
While working for IBM as an Application Consultant one of my projects was to design the UI/UX for Caterpillar's new E-commerce platform.
This was a first of its kind project for Caterpillar as they had never sold directly to the customer, instead always through dealerships. Because of this they did a slow roll out of one product line, their portable generators, with plans to expand as they continued to build out the store. For their use case we needed to have a design that would scale with ease while still keeping a consistent look and feel. Caterpillar also wanted a traditional e-commerce design that their customers would feel comfortable with. We conducted significant research up front that allowed us to keep a user centered approach throughout the development cycle.
As UI/UX Designer on the project my responsibilities spanned the entire design workflow pipeline, from mocking up initial wire frames to final comps and overseeing implementation. Our IBM team worked closely with Caterpillar stakeholders to ensure all functional requirements were fulfilled and delivered on time. This included working with international teams to localize specific content as needed.
